Hello, this is John Janus with Telluride Realty and investment. I came to Telluride to ski in the winter and stayed for the summer. That was 30 years ago. Not a particularly unusual scenario. Here in Telluride, many of the second homeowners really appreciate the high quality of life and the world-class skiing that’s available. But it’s the year round recreational opportunities, along with fantastic weather that makes them want to stay.

Living full time in Telluride is probably one of the most unique, small town experiences that one could have anywhere in the world. Our school systems are consistently rated as some of the best in the nation, as well as Colorado. Telluride is one of only 13 national landmark historic districts in the United States. The town of Telluride is just eight blocks wide and 12 blocks long. Because of it’s significant role in the history of America West, the core area of Telluride was designated as a National Historic Landmark district in 1964. This listing is the highest level of historic status available from the United States Secretary of the Interior. These sites are so special that they are eligible for consideration to become a national park. With the towns colorful Victorian era home, clapboard snore storefronts, boutiques, art galleries, gourmet restaurants, historic buildings, and more, Telluride is an absolute delight to explore.

Architectural Digest calls Telluride Colorado’s most photographical place. 303 magazine says Telluride is one of the nine friendliest towns in America. Number one best small town to visit in the country, according to the Gazette. Telluride has one of the top five campsites says Expedition. And Telluride it is one of the seven cool places to move before everyone else does. I get a particular kick out of this one, Outside Magazine says Telluride has one of the eighth, most spectacular hot tubs in the world. Imagine how far up the list Telluride would be if you took the actual cities off the list. We’re also a town known for playing hard and that doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. In fact, the USA Today ranked Telluride, top five ski resorts for nightlife.

When the restrictions are lifted and lifted soon I hope, wander main street for some saloon hopping, catch some live music, or tuck into a wine bar and enjoy our friendly festive atmosphere for yourself. The arts are alive in Telluride. The town has received the prestigious governors art award.
