Homes For Sale in Telluride Colorado

Telluride is tucked into a box canyon surrounded by 13,000 and 14,000-foot peaks. The town of Telluride is just eight blocks wide and twelve blocks long. Because of its significant role in the history of the American West, the core area of Telluride was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1964. This listing is the highest level of historic status available from the United States Secretary of the Interior. These sites are so special that they are eligible for consideration to become national parks. With the town’s colorful Victorian-era homes, clapboard storefronts, boutiques, art galleries, gourmet restaurants, historic buildings and more, Telluride is a delight to explore. Our citizens are committed to preserving Telluride’s historically significant architecture, open space, traditional design elements and, most of all, Telluride’s small-town mountain lifestyle.

Festival

For over 30 years, the name “Telluride” has been synonymous with its signature events—whether musical, cultural, culinary, scientific, athletic or unusual. With many festival offerings heading into their third decade, Telluride’s festivals have evolved and grown, and continue to inspire the loyal fans who make the annual journey to this beautiful canyon. With variety ranging from arts and music to outdoor pursuits, there’s an event to match every passion. Long-standing offerings—such as the Mountainfilm Festival, Telluride Film Festival, Bluegrass Festival and Jazz Festival—are known among film and music aficionados for attracting the best filmmakers and musicians in the world. Some locals claim that Blues & Brews, scheduled the third weekend of September, is the favorite because it signifies the start of fall colors and the coming of ski season. Mushroom Festival and the Imogene Pass Run further exemplify the eclectic offerings of Telluride.

Condé Nast readers ranked Telluride in their Top 20 List of Best American Cities for Foodies. And Fodor’s ranked us in the Top 10. Imagine how far up the list we’d be if you took the actual “cities” off that list.   We’re also a town known for playing hard, and that doesn’t stop when the sun goes down. In fact, USA Today ranked us Top 5 Ski Resorts for Nightlife. Wander Main Street for some saloon hopping, catch some live music, or tuck into a wine bar and enjoy our friendly, festive atmosphere for yourself.

ARTS & CULTURE

The arts are alive in Telluride. The town has received the prestigious Governor’s Arts Award and the Telluride Arts District, which follows the boundaries of town, is a “Certified Colorado Creative District.”

The Telluride Arts District is both a geographic area and an organization that provides a vibrant voice and resource for the local arts community, supporting artists, sponsoring events, and connecting the public to the area’s wonderfully vast array of art and culture. One such organization, the Ah Haa School for the Arts, offers classes in everything from pottery to dance to book-binding. There’s even a monthly art walk for locals and visitors alike get out to stroll downtown, enjoy a glass of wine and admiring all the latest exhibits.
