Following is a menu of incentives and basic requirements that accompany them.
Revolving Loan Funds
Revolving Loan Funds of up to $20,000 are available to assist businesses with building and property improvements. The program is divided into two segments; the Downtown Opportunity Fund, available to businesses located within the downtown business district, and the Montrose Opportunity Fund for other entities within the city limits. Business Incentives Requirements
The city requires the following items from businesses seeking assistance:
- Business Plan
- Includes jobs to be created (salaries and job descriptions included)
- Projected sales/sales tax revenue over three year period
- Site Plan
- Project cost (project must be at least 20% self-funded)
- Formal written request for incentives
- Two years of tax returns (personal or business, if applicable)
Job Creation Incentives
Incentives of up to $5,000 per job are provided to businesses creating new full-time jobs at or above the median salary for Montrose County. Businesses must maintain new jobs for at least 12 months before incentives are provided.Site ImprovementsThe city will provide funding and in-kind assistance for making external improvements to an overall business property to improve its “curb appeal”. Improvements could include sidewalks, landscaping, signage, blight removal, and other enhancements appropriate to the needs of the business
